Nonprofit Professional Development Loan Fund

The Brandywine Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has established a permanent interest free loan fund in partnership with the Delaware Community Foundation. The fund, totaling $30,000, is designated for nonprofit professional development, and is now available to receive applications.

The rationale for creating this fund is to provide dollars to supplement nonprofit training budgets. The fund is intended to make it possible for many more nonprofit board and staff members to acquire new and up-to-date management and capacity building skills. Repaying loans over a period of 12-36 months will enable organizations to better plan for and manage the costs of training.

Nonprofit organizations may apply for loans for training programs or courses in areas such as fundraising, board development, strategic planning, program development, marketing, public relations, and other capacity-building disciplines. Organizations may apply for up to $4,000 or 75% of the total costs of a specific course or conference, including registration fees and reasonable travel expenses. One portion of the fund is designated specifically for arts organizations, and one portion of the fund is designated specifically for Southern Delaware organizations.


  • Applicant must be a 501(c)3 non-profit agency.
  • Organization must be located in the State of Delaware or be an organization employing a member of the AFP, Brandywine Chapter located in a county adjacent to Delaware.
