Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations

The Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations at Archmere Academy is responsible for directing and implementing a comprehensive annual development and alumni relations program that advances the strategic plan and direction of the school, engaging a broad range of constituencies, while building a culture of philanthropy and encouraging participation in the life of the Academy.

The Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement and works closely with the Institutional Advancement Director for Planned Giving and Grant Writing and the Data Base Assistants for Advancement.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Achieve annual fund-raising goals as approved by the Board of Trustees
  • Coordinating the moves management and prospect review process for the Archmere Fund.
  • Utilizing prospect research tools to identify top prospects, build the pipeline of potential donors, and strategize fund requests.
  • Preparing prospect profiles/briefings for all major donor Archmere Fund solicitations.
  • Supporting all advancement office board committee meetings when necessary with data and reports.
  • Scheduling personal appointments with donors and donor prospects.
  • Developing and implementing an annual strategy for the Archmere Fund, including:
    • Prospect identification and prioritization
    • Donor acquisition and upgrading strategies
    • Managing the inventory and production of all Archmere Fund materials and communications
    • Execution of direct mail program and oversight of the social media fund raising programs, as well as a comprehensive communications calendar with the Marketing manager.
    • Appropriate and timely acknowledgement of gifts
    • Identify, recruit, and manage constituency chairs for the Archmere Fund.
    • Have an understanding of the gift recording process.
    • Ability to run reports and understand data as entered and extracted from the computerized data base.
    • Build and develop strategies to capture constituent information and data.
    • Develop project timelines to meet assigned deadlines.
    • Measuring return on investment for all appeals and/or fundraising activities.

Alumni Relations

  • Serve as the liaison to the Alumni Council, Mothers’ Guild, and Fathers’ Club.
  • Provide leadership direction and support to the Alumni Council in developing and implementing annual program goals. 
    • Recruit, manage, and direct a broad range of alumni volunteers to strengthen committees, serve as class representatives, and engage their peers. 
    • Develop strategies and implement programs to engage young alumni and foster a culture of philanthropy 
    • Manage and grow the Senior Class Pledge Program 
    • Build relationships and engage alumni by affinity/region through targeted individual events and individual outreach
    • Create value-added programming for alumni in coordination with the alumni association.
    • Direct, lead, and manage alumni events.
    • Help manage and support the Alumni Council election process.
    • Be an Archmere “ambassador” to the various Archmere constituencies and to the larger local, regional, and national communities.


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of fund raising experience or related field such as marketing, sales, client/project management
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills, preferably with knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software, in addition to word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software.
  • Demonstrable success in donor cultivation and giving.
  • Detail oriented and data driven self-starter
